2019 Martin Luther King Jr. Essay Contest Winners

This year, over 200 student essays were submitted as a part of the 2019 Martin Luther King Jr. Essay Contest! Students were asked to write an essay on the following quote from Dr. King:

“If I cannot do great things, I can do small things in a great way.”

In addition, students were asked to consider the following questions when drafting their submissions:

  1. How do you feel about this quote?
  2. What does this quote mean to you?
  3. How can you use these words to honor Dr. King and the life he lived?

We are excited to recognize the 2019 winners in both the Junior and Senior divisions. Congratulations to all participants!

Junior Division Winners:

3rd Place: Toriana Garmon, Tri-Central Mid/Sr HS

Senior Division Winners:
1st Place: Celeste Jones, Lebanon HS
