At the 2004 Academic Coaches Conference, the Department of Student Programs presented its first Above and Beyond Award, presented annually to someone who has contributed to the success of academic competitions through their passion for these extra-curricular activities benefiting Indiana’s students.  That first year the award was presented to Dick Ramey, a gentleman who worked tirelessly on behalf of Indiana’s coaches and students as one of the biggest advocates for academic competitions in Indiana.   Dick passed away in June, 2005, and as a legacy to his many contributions, the award was renamed in his honor.  This award has become the highest honor we can present to those involved in the IASP Student Programs.  The recipients of this award since Mr. Ramey have been shining examples of the outstanding educators involved in Indiana Academic Competitions
