Congratulations to all Purdue University Academic Super Bowl State Qualifiers! The enclosed listing(s) contains the school names of the qualifying squads for each subject area in which your school qualified. Please check your contact information on the enclosed State Qualifier listing and let me know if any changes are needed. · Review the Computerized Scoring instructions (click here to view the scoring instructions) with your students and proctor prior to arriving at the state competition. Because of the computerized scoring, student assistants will not be needed to monitor flip charts. Please make a copy of the Computerized Scoring sheet and give to your designated proctor for his/her review. We will use the standard paper copy of the score sheet as a back-up to the computer scoring.
· Each school must furnish a proctor for its round of competition only. A review of the proctor’s duties and assignments will be given during the Proctors’/Coaches’ Meeting.
· Registration Procedures
1. All subject area squads should register at least 60-90 minutes prior to the scheduled round of competition. Registration will be in the lobby of
2. You will be asked to verify your team registration form at the registration table. Your area host site coordinator has provided IASP with the same form used at area competition. At the contest, each qualifying squad will be issued an official copy of this form to carry to the competition table.
3. The participation of your qualifying squad is limited to the five students (seven in interdisciplinary) who were registered at the April 15 competition. You may use any of the five or seven. Substitutions are allowed after question # 12. The captain must remain at the table throughout the competition, but does not have to be the same captain you used at the Area contest.
4. Pick up your coaches’/proctor’s packet during registration. A table assignment sheet will be in the coach’s packet on May 3rd.
5. A coaches’/proctor’s meeting will be held just prior to the beginning of each subject area round of competition. The meeting will begin after the conclusion of question # 12 of the previous round (approximately 45 minutes before the round is scheduled to begin). If you have more than one squad competing, please attend each of the meetings. A map of the facility will be provided in your registration packet you will receive the day of the competition, along with specific meeting rooms.
The Science coaches/proctors meeting will start at 9:45 a.m. in Stewart Center Room 206. The first round of competition begins at 10:30 a.m. see enclosed Time Schedule. The proctor table assignment sheets will be in your competition day packets.
Seating is not assigned for the audience. A small group of seats near the stage entrance will be reserved for students who will substitute after question 12.
Calculators: Students are expected to bring their own calculator for the Math, Science and Interdisciplinary rounds. See your Coaches Handbook for calculator guidelines. Reminder: The following will NOT be allowed: Models with CAS (computer algebra systems) TI-89, TI-92, Casio fx2, HP-95; “hand-held” minicomputers or laptop computers; pocket organizers; calculators with typewriter-style keypads, calculators with paper tape or printers; calculators that “talk” or make other noise; or calculators that require an external power source, such as an electrical outlet. Any calculator with a memory must have the memory cleared before the competition. Solar powered calculators with a battery back-up will be acceptable. Solar powered calculators without battery back-up may be used at the student’s own risk since lighting may be dim to allow better visibility of the screens. Students are expected to bring their own calculators.

Team picture Distribute a copy of the enclosed picture order form to your students. Please compile all orders for each team. Use one order form for the total order from your school. You will keep the copies the students turn in to you to use for picture distribution. Pictures will be taken in
Dress code please review the enclosed Dress Code with your students. Please note that jeans are NOT permitted at State Finals. We’d like to make a good impression on the audience as well as our corporate sponsors who will be on hand that day. Please encourage your students to look nice and avoid “flip flop” style sandals. This event is certainly not a fashion show, but please remind the students they are representing all academic competitions as well as their own school and should behave accordingly.
